This Dingo robotic platform was designed by Clearpath for indoor education and research applications. It comes in two versions: differential drive or omnidirectional drive.
Dingo indoor robotic platform: lightweight, compact and designed to grow
Both versions of the Clearpath Dingo indoor robot offer a four-wheeled robotic platform weighing just 9.1 or 13 kg, depending which one you choose. It’s a very nimble mobile robot offering two drive systems (differential or omnidirectional) and a set of standard or Mecanum wheels . It has a light but strong aluminium chassis capable of withstanding the rigours of testing.
There are different control modes and feedbacks for monitoring performance on the fly: kinematic control, velocity control, evaluation of position, movement, rotation, etc., all delivered in real time. It is ROS compatible and supported by the Gazebo simulator and MoveIt! , an ROS dedicated to navigation, motion and 3D visual servoing .
Numerous uses for educational robotics projects
Dingo is a compact, lightweight robot that will adapt easily to any project you can think of. You want a reconnaissance and mapping robot? Simply add a LiDAR laser range finder , camera and IMU . You want to take machine learning , instant mapping or 3D imaging a little further?
There are lots of compatible accessories that you can install on the Dingo platform’s integrated mounting system. Its reconfigurable inputs/outputs and on-board power also remain easily accessible for adding the sensor, stereo camera or laser range finder of your choice.
