The ideal platform for advanced research in AI and robotics

A highly compliant collaborative robot

The Franka Research 3 (FR3) robotic arm from Franka Robotics is equipped with torque sensors on its 7 axes, offering high compliance. The FR3 arm can be stopped with a simple balloon, demonstrating its sensitivity and safety in collaborative environments.

Very easy to install and operate, you can get the FR3 robot up and running in just 15 minutes.

Robotic system

The Franka Research 3 robotic system includes an arm and its controller. This arm, which is both agile and force-sensitive, has 7 degrees of freedom with torque sensors at each joint.

  • Repeatability: +/- 0.1 mm
  • Payload: 3 kg
  • Reach: 855 mm
  • Covers 94. 5% of the workspace

Franka Control Interface (FCI)

FCI stands for Franka Control Interface, a solution developed by FRANKA ROBOTICS that will enable the FR3 robot to be controlled and programmed in C++. FCI also enables the integration of ROS, ROS 2 and MATLAB & Simulink.

FCI is the interface for viewing and configuring the low level. This interface provides the current status of the robot and enables the robot's torque to be monitored in real time.

The ideal platform for advanced research in AI and robotics

Franka Hand

Franka Hand is a two-finger gripper from Franka Robotics with interchangeable tips, fully integrated into the Franka Research 3 software, making it plug-and-use. The finger tips can be easily replaced and adapted to the objects to be gripped.

App Package for FR3

Applications are flexible modules that can be combined in workflows to rapidly prototype robot behaviour. Each application includes a contextual menu that interactively guides the user to enter parameters such as speed and force.

RIDE

RIDE is the development interface for creating custom applications and connecting third-party hardware and external resources. This tool is ideal for customising and extending the system's capabilities.

NVIDIA® Isaac Sim™

NVIDIA Isaac Sim accelerates development and testing with photo-realistic and physically accurate virtual environments, seamlessly integrating recent robotic systems such as the FR3 to reproduce real-world scenarios and perform in-depth analysis.

Franka Toolbox for MATLAB

Franka Toolbox for MATLAB provides all the essential control options and signals for the FR3 robot, enabling students and researchers to quickly, intuitively and reliably evaluate their algorithms in the lab or classroom. The toolbox includes a variety of MATLAB® scripts and Simulink® blocks, as well as a collection of advanced demonstrations covering various aspects of robotic control.

Franka AI Companion optimally integrates the essential hardware and software to simplify the configuration and accelerate the execution of your robotics and AI research projects. It offers advanced computing power accelerated by NVIDIA® GPUs and real-time control at 1 kHz.

An interface tailored to each use case

There are three levels of access to the robot to meet a variety of needs and skills, covering the whole field of robotics research.

DESK

Interface Desk - FRANKA ROBOTICS

DESK is a high-level programming interface based on workflow, designed to facilitate the implementation and testing of a variety of applications, demos and projects involving human-robot interaction.

No programming knowledge is required to use DESK.

RIDE

Interface RIDE - FRANKA ROBOTICS

This allows researchers to fully integrate the Franka Robotics system into experimental set-ups and use its integrated high-performance controllers.

It's an excellent tool for teaching the basics of robotics.

FCI

Interface FCI - FRANKA ROBOTICS

The FCI interface bypasses the robot's built-in control, allowing researchers to run their own control algorithms on external PCs capable of operating in real time at 1 kHz.

It's the ideal interface for exploring low-level planning and control schemes.

FR3 robotic arm applications

Applications are pre-programmed, encapsulated robotic skills that can be combined in Desk to automate entire tasks in no time at all.

The FR3 robotic arm has been designed to be versatile and quick to learn, so that it can be easily deployed in a wide range of environments, such as :

    • E-Health
    • Research laboratories
    • Universities and engineering schools
    • Etc

Combining precision, C++ and ROS integration, ease-of-use and low cost, the FR3 robotic arm is a Plug-and-Play platform that universities and research laboratories love.

Integrating the FR3 robotic arm with other robotic platforms

The FR3 robotic arm from FRANKA ROBOTICS can be adapted to various robotic platforms.

Génération Robots has supplied four mobile manipulator robots equipped with omnidirectional platforms, telescopic columns and robotic arms for the University of Freiburg, a renowned research institution.
